If you are looking for an ideal place for an autumn hike, the Engadin region and the beautiful lake Silsersee offer you a unique experience in the middle of the Swiss Alps. This region is known for its sunny days, clean air and rich history. Come with us on a virtual tour of this picturesque place.

Discover the beauty of Silsersee

The Silsersee (or Lake Sils) is the largest lake in the canton of Graubünden, which lies in the upper valley of the Engadin. The lake is surrounded by majestic mountains and picturesque villages, which are perfect for exploring during autumn, when nature comes alive with brilliant colors.

Our hike started in the village of Sils Maria, which is famous for the fact that the philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche spent much of his time here. His favorite place was a bench on the Chastè peninsula, where he pondered his philosophical thoughts. Even today you can sit in this place and enjoy the same view of the quiet waters of the Silsersee that he had.

What can you expect from a hike around the Silsersee?

A hike along the Silsersee is a real pleasure for all nature lovers. In autumn, the area is covered in various shades of orange, red and yellow, creating a wonderful contrast with the blue water of the lake. The route is suitable for hiking as well as cycling and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and alpine meadows.

During our hike, we passed through pine forests and meadows, enjoying the peace and beauty of the place. The clear water of the lake and the colorful leaves created an unforgettable scenery that we captured on our camera.

History and cultural heritage

The Engadin is not only a beautiful natural haven, but also a place rich in history. Thanks to its strategic location, the region has been an important trade center since ancient times. The villages around Silsersee have preserved their traditional Alpine charm and in some of them you can see typical Engadin architecture.

Tips for trips and activities
